Clean Blue Green is a resource dedicated to natural, low-toxicity alternatives for household, garden, and body care products—helping to protect our watershed and natural environment.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Georgia Strait Alliance, a Nanaimo-based marine conservation organization, for generously allowing us to share insights from their Toxic Smart Alternatives guides.

Natural Body Care
As Summertime approaches so does the need for measures of protection from the sun including sunscreen products. Sadly, many of these contain ingredients harmful to the world’s coral reefs and aquatic life. In fact the entire state of Hawaii and some global marine preserves have banned two sunscreen ingredients: oxybenzone and octinoxate.

Detox Your Home Pt. 2
Spring Greetings, Everyone! Part 2 of our Detox your Home campaign offers green solutions for dealing with your never-ending laundry pile! Part 1 shared information about some of the dangers of toxic laundry products.

Sustainable Holidays
Season’s Greetings! This chapter of CHI’s Clean Blue Green program offers suggestions for a more ecologically sustainable holiday season. Most of us look forward to enjoying Christmas, Chanukah, New Year’s and other winter celebrations, but in our modern commercialized world, this can also be a time of unnecessary excess.

Green Boating Guide
Boaters contribute a portion of overall pollution, often concentrating near sensitive foreshore areas and confined bays. Hope is here thanks to the Georgia Strait Alliance Organization (GSA), which along with CHI, seeks to inspire boaters to do their part to ensure the future health of our ocean and her creatures.

Detox Your Home Pt. 1
Well intentioned consumers can have a difficult time making informed choices amongst the myriad of cleaning products available today. Many products claim to be "green" but don't always list their ingredients, a definite red flag.

Detox Your Garden
Every year British Columbians purchase many litres of pesticides and weed killers to apply to their lawns and gardens that are highly dangerous to terrestrial and marine environments and wildlife. Hopefully, this is changing rapidly with growing awareness of organic gardening, and thankfully healthy alternatives are available.
